2 days to go!

Have you invited your friends? Have you downloaded Spotify on your computer? Have you got the food and drink sorted out? No?

Well here is your reminder – GO BUY YOUR INGREDIENTS! We thought of everything to make your festival go with a swing and asked the lovely people at Green Appetite to suggest some healthy ways to cater for all your guests.

And one of the members of the Facebook group put together this lovely (hic) punch recipe for you all to try.

And if that’s not your tipple then why not try these drinks? Here at The Invisible Festival we want you to enjoy yourselves but please remember to drink responsibly.

Mark’s Interview on Leith FM

We thought it was time that our charity partner Cancer Research UK took some of the limelight as well.

As you know we are not doing this for any commercial gain. Rather, if you like what we’ve done, then give some money to the lovely people at Cancer Research UK as they deserve it more than us.

To this end Cancer Research UK will have its own area at the festival site and has been very helpful with providing some amazing artists! So, this announcement features those people, and a big thank you from all three of us at The Invisible Festival to Cancer Research UK (especially Natalie). As you will see, things are shaping up to be an amazing couple of days. Hope you can join us.

Richard TaylorRichard Taylor

Fundraising Director of Cancer Research UK

“I am so pleased that the organisers of the Invisible Festival have decided to support Cancer Research UK. I hope this will be a small thank you to everyone who supports us and a musical incentive for those who haven’t yet. The songs that I have chosen are a mixture of those I personally enjoy and also some which I feel reflect the work we do and our amazing supporters who make it happen.

“Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to cancer research. We carry out scientific research to help prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. We have discovered new ways of beating cancer that have saved hundreds of thousands of lives across the world.

“We also provide life-changing information to patients, their families and friends, and run cancer awareness campaigns to help people reduce their risk of the disease. One in three of us will get cancer at some point in our lives but our groundbreaking work, funded almost entirely by the general public, will ensure that millions more people survive.

“I really hope you enjoy the music today – don’t forget to look around our tent for lots of information about what we do as well as some exciting new events and initiatives you might be interested in.

“Have fun and thank you so much for your support.”

Javier WeylerJavier Weyler

Javier Weyler, born in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and raised in Caracas (Venezuela), joined Stereophonics as the band’s permanent drummer in 2004. Javier started playing drums at the age of 13, and four years later he was playing professionally.

Aside from Stereophonics, Javier also has a solo project – Capitan Melao – and collaborated with artists including Roxy Music’s Phil Manzanera on the debut album ‘Lagrima’.  Javier ran the 2009 London Marathon aid of Cancer Research UK.

“The great thing about festivals is that you can listen to all types of music in one place. That variety is what makes a great festival. The most important thing is not to take it too seriously and above all, enjoy and celebrate every minute of it. After all, music gets you through anything… even the portaloos!!

“Enjoy.”

Sandi Thom Sandi Thom

Scottish singer-songwriter Sandi Thom famously came to the world’s attention in 2006 with her ‘21 nights in Tooting’ tour – three weeks of concerts that she sent out to audiences worldwide via the Internet from her basement flat.
Her first single had already been released via a small independent label, but suddenly the media picked up on her story and all the majors were queuing up to sign her.

When ‘I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker’ was re-released on her new label RCA, it went straight to number one in the UK and went on to be a hit world-wide. That same year Sandi released the album ‘Smile… It Confuses People’, which sold 700,000 copies,  and then in 2008 came her second album ‘The Pink & The Lily’, which was recorded in the same basement flat in Tooting.

Sandi has supported Cancer Research UK’s Busking Cancer and SunSmart campaign.

24 July

When we first started on this journey called The Invisible Festival we were soon in touch with Lovebox. Like us, it’s a group of people who all have full time jobs and are doing something for charity in their spare time. Needless to say, it’s an ethos we appreciate.

Lovebox

What is Lovebox?

Lovebox is a digital wristband to help raise money and awareness for different charities around the world via the web. Each month they add another good cause and featured charity for you to support.

Social networks and the internet help them share the information quickly. Lovebox is a simple but effective way for you to show your support for charities. All donations go directly to the charity and you receive a warm fuzzy feeling in your tummy for free! We like warm fuzzy feelings in our tummies!

How do I do my bit?

It’s as simple as The Invisible festival. Swap your profile pic for a Lovebox avatar. Then donate directly to the charity and raise much needed funds too.

Oh, and don’t forget #charitytuesday! They thought it would be cool to have everyone thinking about great causes every Tuesday and since they started #charitytuesday, it has become a hit on Twitter! Even the national press has picked up on it. So why not show your support by displaying your Lovebox throughout each Tuesday – go on you’ll feel good!

Who are they?

The House London are the brains behind the site. They are a creative agency made up of a number of talented individuals and small teams. Within their family are designers, web developers, film makers, strategists, illustrators, photographers and a whole host of other lovely people!

Here’s a few faces behind this project including Michael, Kaushik, Darshan and Nic!

When?

Welcome to the new website, we’re really proud of it and hope that you like it too.

We’ve tried to make it as easy to use as possible, so you can download Spotify, see all our Tweets, and even see the photo’s that you have been sending us to try and win the 50 VIP passes for the weekend.

We shall be updating the site all the time with new acts, articles on how to make your festival weekend the best it can be (sadly we cannot control the weather no matter how many times you ask), and just general things that we think you might like.

As I mentioned, we are giving away 50 VIP passes for Spotify which will mean that 50 of you will be able to listen to the festival all weekend with no adverts, an uninterrupted stream of playlists! Send us your photo’s and prove to us that you are holding a festival at your house and the first/best 50 that do will win the passes. Send your pictures to us!

Right, back to work for us, lots to do and not much time to do it!!
